Video projection of a still photograph animated in Cinema 4D, 5 second seamless loop, steel, window frame, resin, human hair, hanger, exit sign, chandelier, dust.
Taking a 2D still photograph with an arbitrary timestamp and projection mapping it onto 3D geometry inside Cinema 4D, I created a scene of shiny artificial spheres falling from the sky and dissolving into the sea of Nice. It loops every five seconds. Nothing changes. A kind of limbo, fixated in time.
The video projection lights up the chandelier, the floor-window, a lock of hair sealed inside a transparent letter. Light becomes the only thing that can move. It escapes the cage. It travels across the room like a message no one’s asked for, arriving at the speed of light, still too late.
